I just got back from 8 days in Naples, Florida which has some Palm Beach vibes and really good beaches on the Gulf. My parents started going down there for months each winter not long after we moved back to my hometown, in part to be closer to them. It’s OK mom and dad, we will follow you, you can escape the cold but you can’t escape us! Packing for vacations is the worst part of vacations. I said what I said. Traveling with family is beautiful but can be trying. My daughter got gum in her hair on the plane ride home (she discovered a love of gum in Florida) and in turn yelled an expletive at my husband. This is a Waldorf kid who spends hours on the beach setting up shell stands, but she can also throw an F bomb when the stakes get high. But back to packing! I went with just a carry-on and here is what I brought, in outfit form, which will hopefully help when you set off on your next adventure. I can’t help with six year olds who swear like sailors though, you have to figure that one out on your own. Why not?
Cos red dress, Poolside Josie bag, the sunnies are Selima optique. This dress is so comfortable and also comes in black should you not currently be in your red era.
This outfit can serve as a day time look, beach cover up, mix and match for evening, there are no limits.
Zara button down down, Leset pants, Either Or fisherman sandals, Loewe beach bag that I’ve had for 5 years and still love.
A very fun dress that I plan to also wear over pants by Piece of White, worn with Bottega Veneta sandals. I also wore it with the shirt over it. To note: I love this Mirror Palais dress that I might have ordered if it was going to make it in time.
Sezane top that can be a cover-up or worn with a skirt or jeans with Larroude shoes. Sunnies are old Oliver Peoples x The Row.
This can be a beach or city moment which I appreciate. Align vest, Loewe bag, this is a Faithfull the Brand old dress but this white skirt would be perfect.
I love the versatility of this Cos vest with these little shorts that look like a skirt from Sandy Liang
This Sezane tank top is a winner, I have it black too, worn with a skirt from Zara that reminds me of Marisa Cooper.
And a blurry pic of such a stellar swim set from Marysia—this suit and this skirt. I also wore the skirt with the button down and flats to shop around.
This Posse dress feels like pajamas and it’s on sale. Yes I brought two red dresses. Why not?!
Extras: a little PJs moment from Morgan Lane, I love this set too, and I packed leggings from Split 59 which I wear with the Sezane tank to play tennis or take walks (I’m not precious) and this very good Marysia all in one. I wore my sneakers on the plane, they’re Adidas Gazelles in green.
I will do beauty another day. It’s succinct but necessary. Are you headed anywhere fun? Share your packing secrets, why not?
the COS racer back dress - does it work well with a strapless bra? Recs?
